Internet Safety for Kids


Below are some resources to assist Parents with Internet Safety at home. Although the Internet is a wonderful tool for research, communication, and interactive learning there are hazards. It's important to be aware of what your kids see and hear on the Internet, who they meet, and what they share about themselves.

This is not a comprehensive list of tips and resources, it is intended as a starting point for Parents. The school does not provide technical assistant in the home or with personal devices at school.

As a starting point, view our First Steps Toward Internet Safety and Quick Tips. They provide important facts, first steps, and signs to watch for in your child. 

To take Internet Safety from idea to practice Parents can take advantage of the easy to use and fully comprehensive Parental Controls that are already available to them. Below are two examples illustrating the Parental Controls found on iPhones and XBox gaming systems. These examples are for demonstration purposes only and are not intended to provide technical support. Technology and Internet Safety change on a daily basis and it is not possible to keep this document updated. It does however illustrate how easy it is secure your families devices and how helpful vendors have become on the issue.

How To Secure Your Devices

Contact the vendor of your software or device for further information on how to use it's Parental Controls. Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing can be used to direct Parents toward further resources on how to secure their devices.
